When news of a bomb blast and shooting first broke in Norway, media organisations the world over were quick to suggest that the people behind the attacks were Islamic terrorists. Even when the facts were hazy, security experts ‘analysed’, editorials speculated and front pages questioned why Islamic groups would want to attack Norway.

Then, when the perpetrator turned out to be a white, anti–Muslim Christian, news outlets were quick to replace the word terrorist with extremist.

Finland to boost web surveillance after Norway attacks

Finnish police said Monday they will monitor the Internet more rigorously for evidence of extremists plots following last week’s twin massacres in neighbouring Norway.

Deputy police commissioner Robin Lardot said his forces will play closer attention to fragmented pieces of information — known as “weak signals” — in case they connect to a credible terrorist threat.

He told public YLE radio that Finnish police previously enhanced their online surveillance after a 22-year-student gunned down 10 people at a vocational school in the central town of Kauhajoki in September 2008.

Anders Behring Breivik 1500 pages manifesto

This might be the manifesto where Breivik pictures the future. I haven’t read it yet, and I can’t vouch for it’s authenticity. Breivik is charged for terror crime in connection with the recent dreadful mass killings in Oslo.
